In 7 Billion years the sun will become a red giant and envelop the earth, so nothing is really as important as you think it is. Artist Ty Meier feels that there is a healthy amount of nihilism a person should have to attain happiness: You can’t care too much or you’ll stress out all the time, but you have to care enough to feed your kids. Ty feels like it makes you a better worker to not care too much. Caring too much makes you slow down, stress out over every single thing, and not find joy in your work.

Nihilist Titmouse is an epic-sized detail of a tiny-sized bird drawn mostly because Meier loves detail. The gears are a symbol of our endless machinations. The insignificant bird is epically-sized to us, just like our hopes and dreams.

This 8"x10" print is mounted on a hand-painted craft board and finished with a clear acrylic layer, adding texture and depth to the intricate details.
