Artist Ty Meier uses the bee as a symbol of renewal, re-creation, and hope. Think pollinating flowers after the cold, hard winter, in fact, most of Ty’s creations center on metaphors of finding beauty and joy despite the difficulties of existence.

The dystopian, ruined city represents a warning about self-destructive tendencies, both societal and personal.

The glossy, thickly brushed acrylic on the bee and flowers make them stand out while the flat, dark city recedes into the background, creating further contrast between creation and entropy.

This artwork always reminds Ty of George Carlin's classic monologue, "The planet is fine. The people are screwed!" which is worth looking up if you haven’t heard it. However the message is joyful for the bee.

This 8”x10” print was mounted by Ty onto a hand-painted craft board, then calligraphically brushed with glossy heavy body acrylic medium to create the vivid, raised texture. After that he lacquered it to seal and protect it, and to make it glow.
